There are apparently dead and buried now...

https://techcrunch.com/2016/07/26/once-promising-ar-motorcycle-helmet-startup-skully-has-crashed-and-burned/

Not surprising to be honest. Although a promising concept, it would have been hard for them to compete with big Helmet brands on safety and comfort features, while the tech stuff, though nice, was only guaranteed for (I think) one year! I even remember reading that the battery was good for only 2 years and could only be changed at the factory.

That's just not good enough if the asking price is $1,500.

Shame. Someone's dream down the drain. I loved the idea of HUD ...

I liked the idea....but man, they would NEVER answer a straight question with a straight answer. I had several on-line interactions with them. It was frustrating and didn't engender any trust.

Wow, too bad...a very cool concept! I'm sure other manufactures see the future in it. Link

I was really looking forward to it too, but the price and the one year warranty just put me off. HUD sounded awesome.

good idea's for cars, not for bikes IMO. I don't need to be bothered with all kinds of shite going on in my helmet, hell its some of the stuff i am trying to escape on my bike to begin with.

I kinda liked the idea of the rear facing camera image within the HUD array. It's just a whole lot more info to process though. It's bad enough with my GS ... the bike monitors everything that can be detected (and that's shit loads ... as it's a gps data logger) and can display it on the sat nav screen in multiple 16 grid matrices ... way too much data ... but curiously enticing.

I saw today that an executive assistant to the CEO filed a lawsuit calling the company a sham. Brothers that
Founded the company used it as their personal piggy bank. Anyone that has a deposit for a helmet is basically
SOL.

I saw something on FB a while back that a company was picking up the pieces and was also going to look after deposit holders.

Not my words, was in the comments section of this article "15 million buys a lot of hookers and cocaine..." When there's little to no accountability, as is often the case with crowd funding, temptation can not be conatined. Such a good idea too...
